New Horizons Academy of Excellence

New Horizons Academy of Excellence is our private, tuition-free high school at the Reality Center, providing an opportunity for students who have not succeeded in public school. New Horizons students benefit from a smaller setting and more individualized attention. The full-time teacher to student ratio is 1:4. Head of School Martina “Coach D” Dunford has spent many years in Durham inspiring discouraged teenagers toward success.

At New Horizons, every attempt is made to assist our students in their desire to develop mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. Within this holistic approach students are particularly directed toward attaining and exceeding competency levels in the essential core areas of math, science, English and social studies. The strengthening of reading, writing and oral communication skills is an emphasis throughout the curriculum.

Graduates of New Horizons Academy receive a high-school diploma, not a G.E.D. New Horizons is licensed under the North Carolina Division of Non-Public Schools and has been operated by Reality Ministries Inc. since the fall of 2010.

New Horizons Academy admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin.
